“Life in the outback is wonderful, full of colour and action. It can though, be at times isolating. I want to create art experiences where rural women feel connected, inspired and refreshed.”

Hello, I’m Ruth. Mother, farmer and artist.

For as long as I can remember I’ve loved to draw and paint. As a 10 year old I used to breathe in the scent of a new sketch pad like it was an expensive perfume.

Life then got in the way of my creative pursuits, as it sometimes does, and I’ve been super fortunate to have a career, and in the last 6 years, 3 beautiful children (not to mention a good lookin’ hubby).

My husband and I live on his family cattle station near Cloncurry in outback North Queensland. Having grown up in the canefields of tropical North Queensland, it was pretty big leap of faith and love to move out to cattle country.

Our lifestyle is truly wonderful. It is definitely the land of droughts and flooding rains; it is also awe-inspiring. Rugged red hills, open blue skies, vast open fields, rocky outcrops. All of these elements (together with my creative spirit) combined, so that after my third child came along, I decided to reopen myself and start living a creative life.

Life in the outback is wonderful, full of colour and action. It can though, be at times isolating. We’ve got some pretty special women living out here in our rural communities so I would love to create art experiences where they can feel connected, inspired and refreshed.

I’ve started running workshops where they can just switch off and think about nothing but paint on canvas, connection with friends and whether their glass is full.

I can’t wait to see what’s ahead for me and my tribe! Hopefully we can share in some of this creative magic together.

Ruth xx
